Our Story Starts with a Dream

We’re Max and Maxwell—lifelong friends. Since we were kids, suffering from soggy buns and unidentifiable meat in the school cafeteria, we talked about opening a real burger joint. Back in college, we stayed up late testing recipes and figuring out what made a great burger great. Even when life took us down different roads, that dream never left. Years later, we’ve brought it to life and call it BlueRoad.

Why “BlueRoad”? 📍

In the old McNally Road Atlases, scenic roads were marked in blue. Those routes weren’t the fastest, but they appealed to those who wanted a unique experience on the way. That’s the idea behind our name. We don’t follow the same path as everyone else. We built this place to be something different – meals from the freshest ingredients, JUICY smash burgers available late at night…and a vibe that makes you pause, notice the difference and take your time.

Maxwell went into finance while Max pursued restaurants. Studying hospitality at Cornell University, Max got his start in food making pizzas at the student dining halls before working into coordinating Cornell Dining’s Student Employment program. Following a few years in fine dining kitchens of upstate NY, he hit the City. He joined and eventually led the team at Robert De Niro and Drew Nieporent’s Tribeca Grill before moving on to helm Emmett’s under restaurateur Emmett Burke’s mentorship.

At BlueRoad, we put everything we’ve learned into every meal. We’re proud of our prime grade beef blend—short rib, chuck, brisket and sirloin. It’s smashed, seared to order and served always juicy on a soft brioche bun. We also offer a Maine lobster roll, and a chicken sandwich that balances crunch and tenderness. This is the food we love to eat, and we know you will too. It's available late into the wee hours of the night, as we believe everyone deserves access to great food after midnight too.

We designed our space to be open and welcoming. Our kitchen is right behind the bar, so you see every sandwich as it comes to life. That’s on purpose. We want you to feel part of the creative process —no smoke, no mirrors. Just food made with focus and care, right in front of you. We’re proud to show you how we do it.
